MSI classified the X series as slim design notebook series with only less than 1 inch thick and with good performance. MSI X460 comes in two types, the X460 and X460DX. MSI X460 has two processor options, dual core processor Intel Core i5 2410M and quad-core processor Intel
Core i7 2630QM. Using the quad-core processor, MSI X460 is the lightest quad-core notebook in the world today. In addition, MSI X460 is also equipped with 8 GB upgradeable DDR3 memory, 750GB hard drive, 802.11n wireless, Bluetooth, and USB 3.0 port for faster data transfers. X460DX variant equipped with NVIDIA GeForce GT540M graphics card with a capacity of 1GB or 2GB of GDDR3 memory.
Basically, both of the series has similar features, the main difference are MSI X460 Notebook is boast Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics while MSI X460DX Laptop will be ships with NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M card with 1GB of dedicated memory with support NVIDIA Optimus Technology and DirectX 11 for powerful graphics performance.
For enhanced multimedia experience, the X460 and the X460DX also pre loaded with a 1.3 megapixel webcam with support a high resolution 720p for video chats, DVD Super Multi, stereo speakers with THX TruStudio Pro, MSI Cinema Pro, MSI S-Bar, HDMi port for connect to external
display if the 14 inch screen is not enough for you and Intel Wireless Display technology. In term of size, both of the machines has dimensions in 23.94×33.9×2.23 cm with weight around 2.0kg.
MSI X460 comes with 14-inch LED screen with 1366 x 768. There is also an HDMI port for displaying images to an external monitor with 1920 x 1080 resolutions. Although equipped with powerful processors, the MSI X460 and X460DX have efficient power consumption. MSI Turbo Battery + feature could turn off the unused devices. With these features, MSI claims a capacity of 5900 mAh battery that can last up to 8 hours (depending on usage).
